On July 16, 2019, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) launched a consultation seeking feedback on the draft updated version of its data sharing code of practice, which is seen as practical guidance on how to share data fairly and lawfully, and how to meet accountability and recording obligations.
The guide is addressed to any organisation holding personal data and sharing it with third parties in the capacity of the controller, namely where separate or joint controllers determine the purposes and means of the processing of personal data. Therefore, the code does not include sharing data activities with employees or with processors.
