On July 24, 2019, the Gambling Commission announced in a press release its intention to launch a 12-week public consultation, beginning in mid-August 2019, on how to approach the use of credit cards in online gambling services. Evidence and submissions obtained from the consultation, as well as existing data, will determine the best course of action.
Two possible approaches to be considered are: a ban on credit card use in online gambling; and a restriction on the use of credit cards which will be put forward in the upcoming consultation.
