Statement regarding the CMA's decision to close its investigations of MasterCard's and Visa's Interchange Fee Arrangements on the Grounds of Administrative Priority

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has closed its investigation of MasterCard's and Visa's interchange fee arrangements, which it opened on 2005, due to the entry into force of the Interchange Fee Regulation (IFR) this month. The CMA decided after consultation with the British Retail Consortium that there is no reason to continue allocating resources to this investigation.
