Spain: Data Protection Authority Publishes Guidelines For Local Administrations

On November 27, 2017, the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD) released a document, aiming to clarify the new obligations that the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) impose on the local administrations (AALL) in relation to their activities.

This document includes 15 points of interest, similar to guidelines, shedding light on the practical implications of the new regulations and the necessary measures to be adopted by these entities, in order to remain compliant with the new legal framework on personal data protection.

As highlighted in the document, “in many cases the effects of the [GDPR] will be the same as for any other responsible or manager, but in some areas, specificities are given that AALL must take into consideration”.
