On September 8, 2017 a consultation was launched in Portugal for public and private entities to express their opinion on several matters regarding the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in national legislation. The regulation is to come into effect on May 25, 2018 and aims to ensure an equivalent level of protection for the processing of personal data in all member states.
The topics submitted for consultation are:
1. Treatment of special categories of personal data - genetic, biometric and health data
2. Processing of personal data in the workplace
3. Right to portability of data
4. Conditions applicable to the consent of children in relation to information society services
