Poland: Consultation on Draft Legislation to Implement the GDPR

On September 14, 2017 the Ministry of Digitisation released a public consultation, inviting all citizens and entrepreneurs to express their opinions on the draft law on the protection of personal data.

There were two main reasons that prompted the Ministry of Digitisation to amend the law on the protection of personal data. First, each EU member state is obliged to implement the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by May 25, 2018 and, secondly, the current regime governing the protection of personal data in Poland has become obsolete, as it falls behind with the latest developments in the digital world.
