Philippines: Central Bank Issues Virtual Currency Rules

On January 19, 2017 the Monetary Board of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the central bank of the Philippines, in Resolution No. 121, approved regulations governing the operations of virtual currency exchanges in the country. This regulation seeks to ensure that virtual currencies are not used for money laundering or terrorist financing activities (ML/TF).
