New Zealand: Reserve Bank Issues Bulletin on Pros and Cons of Central Bank Digital Currency

On June 19, 2018 the Reserve Bank of New Zealand published a bulletin that discusses the pros and cons of a public digital currency issued by a central bank.

As financial services around the globe are being disrupted by technological innovations, there is high demand for instant banking and payment services, and a number of central banks have been studying whether a central bank digital currency (CBDC) would bring benefits to consumers.
