New PCI Security Standards and Program to Support Adoption of EMV 3DS

On October 25, 2017, the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PSI SSC) announced two new PCI security standards, to ensure secure implementation of EMVCo’s EMV® 3-D Secure (3DS) protocol, as part of its general effort to further support improved authentication for e-commerce and m-commerce transactions.

To help prevent unauthorised card-not-present (CNP) transactions, EMV® 3DS seeks to ensure that consumers are able to authenticate themselves with their card issuers when making online purchases through web browsers or via mobile applications.
