Liechtenstein: Government Adopts a Consultation Report on EU Interchange Fees Regulation

On February 27, 2018, the government published a consultation report regarding the amendment of the Financial Market Authority Act for implementation of Regulation (EU) 2015/751 of the European Parliament and of the Council 29 April 2015 on interchange fees for card-based payment transactions.

The aim of the amendments is to reduce the costs for both retailers and consumers and to help create a single payment market, transparency and competitiveness within the EU and EEA. Regulation (EU) 2015/751 sets caps for interchange fees on debit and credit card transactions.
