Japan: Financial Services Agency Publishes Report on Current Status and Challenges of Countermeasures for Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

On October 23, 2019, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) published a report titled the "Current Situation and Issues of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Measures in Japan". The report follows statistics gathered from the National Public Safety Commission According to the Revenue Transfer Risk Survey, which was published in December 2018 by local and foreign "special fraud crime groups" operating in the country, on the new risks associated with technology and digitalisation advancements and has been published before the publication of the latest Financial Action Task Force (FATF) report on Japan.
