India: Government Unveils New Data Protection Bill

On July 27, 2018, the Indian government unveiled the report on data protection compiled by Justice B.N. Srikrishna's committee of experts and the accompanying Data Protection Bill 2018, which were submitted to the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

Upon analysing the current global approach and the Indian approach to data protection, the report, entitled "A Free and Fair Digital Economy:
Protecting Privacy, Empowering Indians", provides a deep analysis of the proposed new regime and the provisions of the introduced bill.
