France: Data Protection Authority Publishes Study on Blockchain and GDPR

On September 24, 2018, France’s data protection authority, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés - CNIL), published a study regarding the relationship between blockchain technology and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The study aims to offer guidance to data controllers and processors, addressing issues arising from the utilisation of blockchain technology and implications on compliance with the provisions contained in the GDPR.
