Financial Stability Board Releases Decentralised Financial Technologies Report on Financial Stability, Regulatory and Governance Implications

On June 6, 2019, the Financial Stability Board (FSB) published a report on the financial stability, regulatory and governance implications of the use of decentralised financial technologies. The report provides an overview of emerging technologies such as distributed ledger technology (DLT) and online peer-to-peer or user-matching platforms.

According to the report, theses technologies may reduce reliance on intermediaries or centralised processes and could be applied in various areas, including cross-border payments and settlements, the tokenisation of securities, trade finance and insurance and peer-to-peer lending.
