European Parliament and European Council Propose Directive on Combating Fraud and Counterfeiting of Non-Cash Means of Payment

On September 13, 2017 the European Parliament and the European Council introduced a proposal for a directive on combating fraud and counterfeiting of non-cash means of payment and replacing Council Framework Decision 2001/413/JHA.

The European Agenda on Security has acknowledged that this framework decision does not address new challenges and technological developments, such as virtual currencies and mobile payments.
