European Council to Impose Sanctions on Those Responsible for Cyber-Attacks

On May 17, 2019, the European Council adopted a framework that will enable the EU for the first time to impose sanctions on those responsible (persons or entities) for cyber-attacks threatening the EU or its member states.

The new framework also allows the EU to impose sanctions on those responsible for attempted cyber-attacks, who provide financial, technical or material support for such attacks or who are involved in other ways.
