On June 12, 2019, the European Commission published a communication, “State of play of preparations of contingency measures for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union”, on Brexit preparations, particularly on the decision taken by the European Council to extend the Article 50 period to October 31, 2019.
This is the fifth Brexit preparation communication by the commission, in addition to 19 legislative proposals, 63 non-legislative acts and 93 preparedness notices. The commission concluded that there is no need to amend any measures as they continue to meet the intended objectives and it does not plan to publish any new measures ahead of the new withdrawal date.
