Europe: Multilateral Agreement on Exchange of Information Between ECB and AML/CTF Competent Authorities Approved

On January 10, 2019, the European supervisory authorities (ESAs) approved the content of a multilateral agreement for the exchange of information between the European Central Bank (ECB) and all competent authorities (CAs).

The agreement defines practical modalities for the exchange of information between the ECB and all CAs for the performance of bank supervision of credit institutions, as amended by any subsequent legal instrument or the CAs' requirements under the 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (4th AMLD) or under other anti-money laundering/counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) law.
