Europe: ENISA Issues Recommendations on European Data Protection Certification

On November 27, 2017, the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) published Recommendations on European Data Protection Certification.

The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 679/2016 (GDPR) will enterĀ into force on May 25, 2018 and will be directly applicable in all member states. The regulation will provide harmonisation of the legal data protection regime across the EU.

The objective of the report is to identify and analyse challenges and opportunities of data protection certification mechanisms, including seals and marks, as introduced by the GDPR and existing initiatives and voluntary schemes.
