ECB and Bank of Japan Publish Joint Investigation Report on Use of DLT for Financial Market Infrastructures

On March 27, 2018, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of Japan (BOJ) released their findings in relation to "Project Stella", the joint research on distributed ledger technology (DLT). The findings are the result of the second phase of the project, with the findings of the first phase published in September 2017.

The purpose of the research project is to examine the manner in which the delivery of securities against the payment of cash could be conceptually designed and technically operated in an environment based on DLT, without looking at the legal aspects.
