EBA Issues Opinion on Use of eIDAS Certificates under the RTS on SCA and CSC

On December 11, 2018, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published an opinion on the use of certificates with regard to Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014 of July 23, 2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS Regulation) certificates under the regulatory technical standards (RTS) on strong customer authentication and common and secure communication (SCA and CSC).

The EBA’s opinion provides clarifications on certain aspects with regard to qualified certificates for electronic seals (QSealCs) and qualified certificates for website authentication (QWACs) for the purpose of identification of payment service providers (PSPs) under the RTS.
