On March 29, 2019, the Chamber of Representatives announced a draft introducing basic banking services to companies had been introduced on March 27, 2019. The draft aims to provide the means to enable businesses to perform the necessary payment transactions to participate in economic and legal exchanges.
The explanatory notes to the draft make reference to the fact that some businesses in the diamond sector and hospitality sector encounter difficulties opening a bank account to carry out professional transactions. The draft would add new provisions to Section 2 of Book VII of the Economic Law Code.
