Hackers Snub Payment Cards, Move To Identity Fraud

Theft of payment card data online is in relative decline as hackers become increasingly interested in stealing personal data to commit identity fraud, a major report has found.

Data from the security firm Gemalto showed that more than half of large data breaches recorded last year related to identity theft, compared with less than a quarter which involved financial access.
