Goldman Sachs has filed a crypto-currency patent as it joins the rush among financiers to use blockchains to improve the efficiency of its banking operations, triggering unease in fintech circles.
In a filing submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the investment giant laid out plans to create new methods of “settling securities in financial markets using distributed, peer-to-peer, and cryptographic techniques”.
