'We're Not Libra,' Ripple Tells U.S. Congress

As Facebook's Libra project endures withering criticism from Congressional critics — and a day before another hearing on Capitol Hill focused on virtual currency regulation — Ripple is urging lawmakers not to paint all crypto firms with a "broad brush."

In an open letter to Congress on Monday, Ripple chief executive Brad Garlinghouse and company co-founder and executive chairman Chris Larsen praised the "vital role" of central banks and established financial institutions in the global financial system, while stressing the importance of trust in the acceptance of any currency.
