UK Government Calls For Views On New Digital Identity System

The UK government has called for input on the possibility of establishing a digital identification system for the country, which would provide a single mechanism whereby customer authentication could be carried out by financial institutions.

On Friday, the Cabinet Office and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport launched a discussion on electronic ID as a means of streamlining the use of digital services and providing a more effective means of combating fraud.
