Stripe is being targeted by anti-racism campaigners for continuing to process payments for far-right extremists in the United States and Europe, highlighting the reputational risk to payment institutions by accepting business from groups that stoke controversy but operate within the law.
San Francisco-headquartered Stripe, which was valued at $22.5bn in January, offers a plug-in checkout that can be added to websites, allowing individuals and organisations to accept card payments within minutes. It also offers online payment rails for e-commerce platforms.
