Authorities in South Africa expect to set out plans in the coming weeks to bring cryptocurrencies into the regulated financial services sector, with the country’s online gambling industry hoping to be a key beneficiary.
Speaking at the 15th annual Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) in Port Elizabeth on Monday, the executive manager for legal and policy at South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre said its response to a consultation paper on crypto-assets is slated for publication next month.
