Security Experts Downplay PSD2 Data Protection Fears

Cybersecurity experts have downplayed potential clashes between two incoming pieces of EU legislation, dismissing fears that data security will suffer due to apparently conflicting demands.

At last week’s FT Banking Summit in London, the issue was raised of overlap between the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Emma Mohan-Satta, a fraud prevention consultant at Kaspersky Lab, was of the opinion that there was a lack of communication at the legislative level but the two texts are not necessarily incompatible.
