Payment Processors Not Panicked By Wire Act Opinion

There is still support to process payments in the regulated U.S. online gambling market, despite the uncertainty created by the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) revised opinion on the Wire Act, according to one industry executive.

“There is an unwavering confidence and commitment to support the industry within a legal and lawful manner,” Joe Pappano, senior vice president and managing director of Worldpay Gaming, told sister publication GamblingCompliance in an interview.

Pappano acknowledged the DOJ Office of Legal Counsel’s (OLC) revised position on the federal Wire Act was “creating confusion” within the payments and gaming industries.
