After a string of setbacks Netherlands has finalised its long-awaited transposition of the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2), with the landmark reforms taking effect from today.
After the country’s parliament approved the necessary legislation in December last year, it was widely expected that the law would come into force on January 1.
However, a review by the Council of the State, which examines the quality and legislative soundness of new laws, took longer than anticipated. That has now been finalised, and the final decree was published on Monday.
