Merchants Blamed As Germany Confirms SCA Delay

Germany has confirmed it will delay enforcement of incoming EU rules on strong customer authentication (SCA) for online card payments, with the country’s regulator and banking lobby blaming merchants for being unprepared for the reforms.

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) also separately told PaymentsCompliance it is willing to consider granting longer reprieves to different types of merchants and transactions.
