Meeting With Swiss Regulators Fails To Ease U.S. Libra Concerns

U.S. House Financial Services Committee chairperson Maxine Waters has said a meeting with the Swiss officials who will oversee the consortium governing Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency has failed to allay concerns about the project.

The lawmaker issued a statement on Sunday promising continued scrutiny of the initiative would be a priority for the committee during the upcoming fall Congressional session.

Waters, a California Democrat, led a delegation of six committee members in meetings last week with Switzerland's State Secretariat for International Financial Matters, Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner and Financial Market Supervisory Authority, along with a group of Swiss legislators.
