Lithuania Takes Flak On AML Record, Plots Strict Implementation Of New Rules

Lithuania’s supervision of the e-money sector has come under fire following a major international review, but the country is already being pressured from within the industry to reverse its proposed gold-plating of EU anti-money laundering (AML) rules.

MONEYVAL, the monitoring body of the Council of Europe, published a mutual evaluation of Lithuania last week that raised several areas of concern for the fledgling fintech hub.
