Ireland Unlikely To Buck EU Trend On Virtual Currencies

Irish lawmakers have opened conversation about how to react to the emergence of virtual currency and blockchain businesses, although legal experts doubt they will go beyond work already underway at EU level.

Last week, the Department of Finance proposed to set up an intergovernmental working group to examine the need for policy changes or government intervention as the use of the technologies becomes more common in the country’s financial services sector.
