Finland Scoops Up Crypto Issuers In 5th AMLD Transposition

Finland has cast a wide net for virtual currency businesses in its implementation of new EU legislation, gold-plating the measures to include virtual currency issuers among those which must register with authorities.

The 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5th AMLD) is being transposed in Finland via two new laws: one on the supervision of bank and payment accounts; and one on providers of virtual currency.
