European Regulators Seek Harmony On Strong Authentication Delay

National regulators are pushing for a harmonised pan-European transition period on enforcing new strong authentication rules, although consensus may not be reached until after September’s official deadline.

According to multiple sources familiar with the issue, the European Banking Authority (EBA) met with representatives from member state authorities on July 24 to discuss how the phased introduction of strong authentication rules on online payments could work in practice.
