European Parliamentarian Decries ‘Arcane’ Authentication Rules

A senior MEP has said incoming European strong authentication rules are “out of touch with society”, arguing that lawmakers should draw more inspiration from the private sector when introducing regulatory reforms.

British Conservative MEP Ashley Fox spoke out last week against the regulatory technical standards on payment security, which are likely to be finalised this month and will eventually sit alongside the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
