The European Parliament has voted to include Tunisia on a blacklist of countries at high risk of money laundering, despite vocal opposition from concerned parties.
The decision concerned an amendment to the blacklist proposed by the European Commission on December 13 last year, which would have added Sri Lanka and Trinidad & Tobago along with the North African country.
Some members of the European Parliament raised objections to that proposal late last month, expressing concern that Tunisia’s inclusion could do more harm than good.
