The European Commission has published guidance on new data protection rules, as May’s deadline for applying the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) looms into view.

Although many member states have issued their own guidance for national entities preparing for the GDPR’s arrival, the commission document is intended to aid the transposition process by national governments as well as provide an overview of how the regulation will function across the continent.
