European Commission Backs Down On AML Blacklist

The European Commission has relented to pressure from parliamentarians over its blacklist of high-risk countries, confirming plans to carry out its own assessments of jurisdictions’ financial crime frameworks.

The commission has twice failed to gain European Parliament approval for its most recent blacklist, accused of simply copying the list maintained by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
