The European Banking Authority (EBA) will soon publish the results of a study into member states’ varying approaches to regulatory sandboxes, likely to take the form of best practice guidance to encourage a consistent approach.
The work on sandboxes, which allow firms to experiment with innovative products and services in a controlled environment, is a key part of the the authority’s fintech roadmap set out earlier this year.
Officials said last week that a report is due in the coming weeks that will examine national approaches to fintech more generally and set out ways that regulatory and supervisory divergences can be smoothed out across the EU.
