EU Wire Transfer Rules ‘Impossible’, Claims Industry

Industry representatives have said requirements for payments firms to carry out real-time monitoring of wire transfers could lead to a “slow down or partial collapse” at infrastructure level.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) held a public hearing on Friday to discuss proposed guidelines on payment data.

The guidelines stipulate what measures payment service providers must take to detect missing or incomplete information on who is sending and receiving funds.
