The European Council is ready to enter into final discussions on a new directive aimed at tackling fraud and counterfeiting in the non-cash payments sector.
The directive, which the European Commission proposed in September last year, attempts to harmonise investigation and prosecution throughout the EU for a range of different payment instruments and ensure national legislation is clear, robust and technology-neutral.
