In Depth: Europe Set For 5th AMLD Despite ‘Loophole’ Warnings

The EU is finally on the brink of introducing a raft of new anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, including tighter controls on prepaid cards, cross-border payments and virtual currencies.

The European Parliament will vote today on the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5th AMLD) and, having already reached a political agreement on the final text in December, is universally expected to rubber-stamp the reforms.
