The EU’s independent privacy watchdog has offered its interpretation of the interrelating issues between the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and data protection requirements, amid criticism that the lack of guidance from European authorities was “regrettable”.
Andrea Jelinek, chairperson of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), wrote a letter to European Parliamentarians last week which sought to clarify the “complex” legal framework for processing personal data in the context of PSD2.
