Court Grants Mastercard Chance At Averting £14bn Class Action

Mastercard has won another chance to fend off a £14bn lawsuit over historical domestic interchange fees, the latest twist in the saga over what would be the UK’s largest-ever class action.

In April, the Court of Appeal ordered the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) to re-hear an application brought by former financial ombudsman Walter Merricks, after the specialised court had earlier refused to certify the claim as a class action.
