Commission Crypto Plans 'Like Trusting The Thief', Parliament Says

The European Parliament has criticised the direction of travel of the European Commission’s work on virtual currency regulation, arguing that stronger registration requirements are needed to combat criminal misuse of the technology.

In a study requested by the TAX3 Committee and published by the European Parliament, doubts were raised over whether the commitments made by the commission to address the gaps in the recently passed 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5th AMLD) are rigorous enough.
