Evidence given in the British parliament last week indicated that the UK would likely be obliged to keep many new EU data protection provisions following Brexit.

Although the UK has thrown its weight behind the incoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), there has been speculation it could diverge from future European regulatory developments in the field as part of trade agreements with other jurisdictions.
