Banks Call For 18-Month Strong Authentication Grace Period

Europe’s banking lobby has called on the European Banking Authority (EBA) to put in place a harmonised non-enforcement period of 18 months for new authentication rules for online card payments.

The European Banking Federation (EBF) said in a statement on Friday that 18 months is a “reasonable” period for strong customer authentication (SCA) rules to be rolled out across EU member states.
